Turn on the news and pay attention to what's going on, folks. The worst fire season ever out west, a hurricane season that looks to be more intense than normal again. A pandemic that refuses to go away and in part because we got a late start - thanks to the current administration in DC shutting down the pandemic preparedness office two years ago, unemployment skyrocketing because we weren't ready, and one environmental crises after the other because our president thinks construction projects are more important than protecting the health and safety of our people and our land - as if environmentalism wasn't a great job generator itself.
The people who think climate change is a hoax, that the pandemic is a hoax, that there is no racism and no White privilege, people who think that anything they don't believe in is a lie, are troublesome and in trouble. They live in a space that is disconnected from the very stark realities that are eroding our quality of life.
And if we as a people made mistakes, we can admit it and try to fix things.
We cannot build a wall around the problems that are currently distressing our country, and they can't make them go away by saying they are lies and hoaxes and that the people who are trying to make things better are evil-doers and liars. We need to be open-eyed about divisive leaders and try to find common ground. It's there if you look for it.
I say look at where we are now, folks and decide. Do you want four more years of this? I don't.
Biden / Harris 2020.
In case you think I don't love this country, you are wrong. That's why I want to help make it better.
Here's some photos I took crossing the country by rail a few years ago.
