Sunday - It almost felt normal today. And truth makes Trump look bad so administration members try to fake the news

This morning we drove to Hartford CT, about 90 miles from our home, and toured the Mark Twain House and Museum. Twain, Samuel Clemens, lived in a lovely home on a big chunk of property in Hartford for 17 years, until bad investments left him bankrupt. Eventually, a trust gained ownership and restored the house to something like it would have been when Clemens and his wife lived there and raised their daughters. It was a beautiful day for a drive across central CT and the tour was very interesting.

Equally interesting was finding a place to eat some lunch. We hoped to find someplace with tables outside, and we did find one, The Pond House Cafe in the Elizabeth Park. The problem was we didn't have a reservation and the next seating was in 45 minutes. No way.

We drove back toward the Interstate. I'd seen what looked like a hole in the wall place when we'd driven the other way up the road. I pulled into the parking lot and we checked it out. It was called Mo's Midtown and it was a very pleasant breakfast/lunch joint - sort of like an old style NY luncheonette. The menu was mostly breakfast or sandwiches and burgers. We got the last table - they are operating at about 50% capacity because of the pandemic. The staff, the host, the owner/cook and the back of house all had their masks on and it felt pretty safe.

Turns out the owner, Mo and his wife are Polish immigrants and the host is too, though she is not related. We all had a pleasant old folks at home few minutes just before their closing time and were complimented by Mo when he said it's all worth it when customers like us come in. I bought a tee shirt.

Next time I'm in Hartford I'll go back. It's the kind of place I like, as were the Satellite Diner and Lounge in Spokane, the Crossing Diner in Dundee, NY and Eisenberg's on Fifth Ave. in Manhattan.

Today in the WaPo there was a damning article about the HHS's attempts to politicize reports on the coronavirus coming out of the CDC. In essence, Michael Caputo, the chief spokesperson for HHS and one of his advisors have been trying to control what is said in the weekly Mortality Reports because they've been contradicting what Doofus Donald Trump has been saying, and that makes him look bad.

This, is 100% bad, especially since Caputo is characterizing these scientific reports, written to tell what is and not what is hoped for and generated to inform the citizenry as well as the government, as being politically motivated. He looks in the mirror, sees his own motivations and assumes everyone else has them too.

Not good.

Here's a link to the article so you can read it for yourself:

Trump officials seek greater control over CDC reports on coronavirus

The first two photos are in the museum. The rest at Mo's Crosstown.
