The midtown Manhattan streets aren't deserted but it is too easy to keep social distancing while walking in the afternoon. I brought my lunch with me today so I didn't get out during the middle of the day but I took a walk about 4PM. Even in the summer, when many people bail early to extend their weekend for a few hours, that time is still pretty busy during normal periods. Obviously, we are not in a normal period. There were almost nobody I could identify as a tourist. Oh well. I took a few pictures and I'll post them tonight.
I heard the news of the CDC's official report on school openings and it seems that crooked Doofus Donald has subverted and politicized another office that should stand above politics. Their preliminary report was stringent and expected schools to put strong safety measures in place. The one released removed most of that burden, and for teachers, parents and caregivers it will be a scary time if the disease keeps spreading because children and adolescents, often unaware they are infected, pass it along to people who will most certainly know.
Nothing but getting sick himself will convince corrupt, crooked, selfish sTrump'et that we are going down the wrong road, and even then he'd probably just bellow what an awesome case of the virus he had and now he's good to go.
I read he gets tested several times each day. I was tested two weeks ago. It is not a pleasant procedure, having a long swab stuck deep into the nasal cavity and beyond. Perhaps overuse of nose numbing, powdered drugs has deadened all pain sensors in his nose. I would not be surprised.
The little things, and often it is the little things that matter, where Boogers for Brains spends energy and gas because he thinks more people stand with him on those subjects, when he should be focusing on our substantive problems, take up too much time and are distracting.
Yes, the Confederates were traitors and monuments to them, including military installations with their names, are an affront to people of color and ought to be an affront to all patriotic Americans. Who is injured by renaming them? It seems to be just something he can fart about.
Being petty and punishing all the people of a state because the state's government enacted policies ugly dumpling Donald opposed, is out and out wrong and often the wrongs become public knowledge, as in not allowing NY State residents trusted traveller status. Turns out the DHS and the Justice Department simply lied about their reasons and now they've been reversed. Another example of corrupt Donald subverting government departments.
A little more than 100 days out from the election and we have to keep up the noise and keep showing the Doofus Donald as naked as the emperor who thought he had wonderful clothes. Donors seem to be abandoning him in an effort to keep Repulsive control of the Senate. We need to keep that fight going, too.
Unelect Trump.
Take back the Senate.
And locally, keep ultra-right-wing sTrump'et sock puppets out of state office.
