Thursday - The painters are sanding the outside of my house and Trump is gutting the environment

The Carolina wrens that built their next in a corner of my roof gutters are upset. The painters haven't disturbed their next but they were working pretty close to it today. I hear them now, a few hours later, singing their song. It sort of goes, "judy judy judy." They sing all day and it's okay.

While I don't consider the work being done to prep my house for a new coat of paint to be environmentally destructive, it's noisy and dusty. At the end of the day the painters clean so well that if it wasn't for the bare wood I wouldn't know they'd been here.

On the other hand, the sTrump'et is stripping one of the most important environmental acts of the past half century by fiat. He is ordering parts of it to essentially be ignored. For three and a half years he's dithered and orally masturbated about infrastructure projects that never get done and now, during his last six months in office, he is trying to kill the future of the environment, backtracking on all that's been restored and revived by cutting off the environmental impact reviews for projects. I can only hope this gets so knotted up in the courts that he is a bad memory, rotting in jail, before it gets decided. Of course, if Doofus Donald is unelected this fall, we can be comfortably sure that most of his executive orders will be rescinded and some sense returned to how we live.

The sTrump'et acts as if he can rule by fiat, and short of that, he issues one executive order after the other. He was barely able to get things through Congress when both houses were ruled by the repulsive Republicans dominated by their so-called "freedom coalition," in reality a bunch of extremist, right wing bullies. Since the takeover of the House in January 2019, sTrump'et's inability to work in a bipartisan manner - he always plays to the repulsives and his lowest instincts - has stymied most legislation He is a bully with an inflated view of himself that might hide a serious personality disorder, but what do I know? I'm not the psychologist in the family. For that you can turn to his niece and her book. What the sTrump'et loves to do is lord it over people and he gets very distraught when we don't bow down and lick his boots. His self-image is HUGE, his ego is HUGE, his accomplishments are minuscule

Anyway, I don't want to go on another rant. Suffice to say we can't save the country from it's worst president ever - I never thought I'd say this after living through Bush ii - unless we UNELECT him this fall. And that won't happen if we just sit around hoping, the way he sits around hoping the virus will just go away.

Both he and Covid-19 need to be stamped out. Most of us can help the latter through social-distancing and wearing our masks, maintaining good sanitary practices and quarentining ourselves if we get sick.

We can stomp on the Doofus Donald's butt by going out and canvassing the electorate, telling the truth about what he is and what's going on in the White House, enumerating his lies without repeating them, and then voting in November.

It's up to us. Unelect Trump, Unelect the Republican Senators, and return sanity to our government.

Tonight's photos could be called, "A Quick Walk Through Grand Central Terminal." It is a great place to people-watch.
