Sunday - It's Father's Day in the USA and sTrump'et thinks we're testing too much

It's Father's Day here, and maybe in other places as well, I don't know, so to all father's everywhere, I hope your kids are nice to you, but you should be nice to them as well.

It was a beautiful morning for a walk so we drove to the parking lot at the Tarrytown end of the bridge across the Tappan Zee, officially the Mario Cuomo Bridge, parked and took a longish walk from Westchester to Rockland County. We didn't go all the way, I don't know that my bad knee would have tolerated a seven+ mile round trip, It is a long bridge, crossing the Hudson at one of it's broadest parts.

The new bridge, which replaced the worn out and outdated Tappan Zee Bridge, is very beautiful. That it was designed as two separate roads, eastbound and westbound each on their own bridge, works well. That it also was designed with bus lanes, and some room left for a non-motorized path for pedestrians, cyclists and I presume eventually I'll see some rollerbladers on the path as well, makes sense. Unlike the Walkway Across the Hudson in Poughkeepsie, you are somewhat hemmed in by the twelve foot wide lane, divided by a white line for pedestrians and those on wheels, and you are sharing the crossing with automotive traffic just the other side of the divider. It's also a much longer walk or ride across and back. The designers included a half-dozen or so overlooks that offer a place to sit, great views and are out of the flow of the pathway. We walked to the fourth going from east to west, about 1.5 miles out from the beginning of the path. It was warm, sunny with a bit of haze over the shorelines.

I'll share some pictures below.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, sTrump'et's so called big, "huge: rally in Tulsa last night was a bit of a flop both regarding attendance and his speech. The man is really losing it. I mentioned yesterday how he blew a gasket when he learned that news of the six aides testing positive for the virus went public. Well, the arena, which seats somewhere around 19000 was about 1/3 empty. He denies it but the pictures show a lot of empty seats and sections, so deny all he wants, he won't convince me. He and ha'Penny, his no. 2 cancelled the planned after rally out of doors because nobody showed up. And it wasn't because there were massive anti-sTrump'et demonstrations, because there weren't much of that and we all know that the self-deluding, selfish hoi polloi who are his core supporters, the ones who think that they should be able to do what they want because only their desires matter, would've shown up despite any attempts to stop them. They just aren't as many of them, and if they keep it up, not watching out for themselves, there will be fewer.

Then sTrump'et really hit a foul home run, easily a 400 footer. He said to the crowd that he told his people to start cutting back on testing for Covid-19 because all the new cases were making the USA, but he really means himself, look bad.

The attempt by Nobody Navarro, toady of the day,  to walk it back by claiming sTrump'et said it "with tongue in cheek" was week and, based on the video, just another administration smoke screen trying to protect the idiot-in-chief from self-destructing.

I can't say I'm sorry. I'm feeling a certain schadenfreude and watching people I know who are supporters of the idiot twist themselves this way and that to justify him, well, I didn't know I knew any contortionists but I guess I was wrong.

We must unelect sTrump'et and disempower the evil people around him. Work for democracy, work for justice.

And now a few pictures of the bridge and the pathway. The decision here was what to hi-light, the bridge, the pathway, the people, the views? Or maybe just a very little of all of these? Some other time for more of any of them.
