Speaking of opening, Gov. Cuomo announced beaches in NY, NJ, CT and DE are opening, though the required social distancing and such are in effect. It's part of the regional good news as new cases of Covid-19 are declining, deaths are inching lower, and people are recovering. Much of NY state north of the lower Hudson Valley west of it are beginning to reopen. The exceptions are NYC, the Capital District, the Lower Hudson Valley, Long Island and Western NY. Granted that most of the population of the state lives in the areas still on "pause," but you have to start somewhere.
I'm feeling pretty good about it now that there is a foreseeable time when I can start commuting again, even if there is no definitive date.
A couple of days ago I posted pictures of the senior cat of the household. Today I give you Pancake. He's about 1 1/2 years younger than Bits, was adopted as a kitten and has grown into a veritable ball of fur. He looks big but I imagine if I shaved him, he'd be a normal sized cat, even if he looked miserable without his regal coat.
He has one habit that is mildly annoying. He prefers to get his water from the bathtub tap, and he is a social drinker. You can't just turn it on and go do something else for the couple of minutes he will need to fully slake his thirst. You walk out, he follows you, staring as if to say, "what's the matter, I'm not good enough for you to have a drink with me?"
He has two main position for drinking. First, he usually drapes himself over the tap and drinks with his head down. Then he moves to the corner of the tub and drinks with his head cocked, facing the tap. It's all quite amusing and I've grown to tolerate it and watch him while he drinks, or read a bathroom magazine until I hear him jump from the tub to the floor.
